Eye Contact: Direct contact with the eyes is likely to be irritating.
Skin Contact: May cause moderate irritation. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. May cause an allergic skin reaction.
Inhalation: May cause irritation to the respiratory tract, sneezing, coughing, burning sensation of throat with constricting sensation of the larynx and difficulty in breathing. Ortho-Phthalaldehyde belongs to a family of aldehydes that have a potential to cause respiratory sensitization. Symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, tightness of the chest and throat, dry mouth and tingling of the mouth and lips.
