  The GHS is an acronym for The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards.This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.
  The GHS classifications for chemicals associated with products in this database may be viewed by selecting the "Advanced" button on the Chemical Ingredients tables. Since this is a work in progress, GHS classifications may not be shown for all chemical ingredients.

CAS numbers identify the chemical, but not its concentration or specific mixture.  CAS Registry Numbers are assigned by the Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society.   Risk Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "R" indicate the nature of the special risks, in accordance with Annex III to Directive 67/548/EEC (see Article 23(2)(d) Directive 67/548/EEC). The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning special risks, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the special risks.

  SVHC is a substance (identified by the European Chemicals Agency) that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. SVHC are defined in Article 57 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (“the REACH Regulation”) and include substances which are:
  1.  Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or toxic to Reproduction (CMR), meeting the criteria for classification in category 1 or 2 in accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC or in category 1a or 1b in accordance with EC No 1272/2008This directive was recently replaced by the new EU regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.
  2.  Persistent, Bioaccumulative and Toxic (PBT) or very Persistent and very Bioaccumulative (vPvB) according to the criteria in Annex XIII of the REACH Regulation, or
  3.  Identified, on a case-by-case basis, from scientific evidence as causing probable serious effects to human health or the environment of an equivalent level of concern as those above (e.g. endocrine disrupters).

      From MSDS Repeated inhalation of large amounts of silica dust over an extended period of time may result in adverse effects on the lungs. Chronic Toxicity: This product contains a small amount of crystalline silica. Repeated inhalation of large amounts of silica dust over an extended period of time may result in a progressive, disabling disease, silicosis. Symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain and reduced lung function. Mutagenicity: No evidence of adverse mutagenic effects from the available information. Reproductive Toxicity and Teratogenicity: No evidence of adverse reproductive effects from the available information.

    • Carcinogenicity

      From MSDS Crystalline silica has been identified by IARC and NTP as a probable carcinogen. None of the other ingredients is listed as a carcinogen or potential carcinogen by OSHA, NTP, or IARC. Carcinogenicity The International Agency for Research on Cancer has determined that respirable crystalline silica is a probable human carcinogen (Group 1). The National Toxicology Program classifies respirable crystalline silica as a substance which may reasonably be anticipated to be a carcinogen. A risk assessment done on this product showed that no increase cancer risk would be expected from the customary use of this product over a person

      From MSDS Swallowing: Clear material from mouth. No harmful effect is expected from a small ingestion. If a large ingestion is taken call a physician, poison control center or emergency room for advice. Skin: No emergency care anticipated. Inhalation: No emergency care anticipated. Eyes: Exposed eyes should be immediately flushed with copious amounts of water. Hold eyelids apart to ensure rinsing the entire surface of the eye with water. Avoid rubbing the eyes as this may result in further medical irritation. If irritation or pain persists, seek medical attention. Notes To Physician: There is no specific antidote. Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical conditions.
