The GHS is an acronym for The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The GHS is a system for standardizing and harmonizing the classification and labelling of chemicals. Chemicals are associated with codes that define their health, physical and environmental hazards. This universal hazard communication system was developed to ensure that employers, employees and consumers are provided with adequate, practical, reliable and comprehensible information on the hazards of chemicals, so that they can take effective preventive and protective measure for their own health and safety.

EU Hazard Classification Directive 67/548/EECHazard Symbols are used to classify dangerous substances.
Hazard SymbolsRisk Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "R" indicate the nature of the special risks, in accordance with Annex III to Directive 67/548/EEC (see Article 23(2)(d) Directive 67/548/EEC). The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning special risks, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the special risks.
Risk PhrasesSafety Phrases, denoted as a series of numbers preceded by the letter "S" indicating the recommended safety precautions, in accordance with Annex IV to Directive 67/548/EEC. The numbers are separated by either a comma to denote separate statements concerning safety precautions, or an oblique stroke (/) to denote a combined statement, in a single sentence, of the safety precautions.

Avoid breathing sanding dust. Avoid storage at temperatures greater than 90 degrees (f) or near heat, sparks, electrical equipement or open flames. Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors or contact with skin. Prevent prolonged or repeated breathing of spray mist. To avoid spontaneous combustion during tempory storage, soak soiled rags and waste immediately after use, in a water filled, closed metal container. -
Acute health effects
From MSDS:
Health Hazard Data
Inhalation: Excessive exposure to vapors or spray mists can result in headache, dizziness, incoordination, nausea and loss of consciousness. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and central nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the vapors may be harmful or fatal.
Skin and eye contact: This material may be an eye irritant
Skin absorption: Prolonged or repeated skin contact with this material may cause dermatitis, skin defatting or irritation
Ingestion: May produce signs of intoxication, dizziness, headache, nausea, mental confusion and possibly slurred speech and stupor, depending on the quantity of material ingested.
Medical conditions generally aggravated by exposure: Kidney diseases, respiratory illnesses, skin allergies -
Chronic health effects
From MSDS:
Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational exposure to solvents with permanent brain and central nervous system damage. Intentional misuse of this product by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the vapors may be harmful or fatal -
Carcinogenicity
IARC concludes that there is sufficent evidence in humans and experimental animals for the carcinogenicity of crystalline silica in the forms of quartz or crystobalite. IARC(Group 1). Titanium dioxide has been characterized by iarc as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2b) through inhalation (not ingestion). This classification is based upon animal inhalation studies. Epidemiology studies do not suggest an increased risk of cancer in humans from occupational exposure to titanium dioxide.
